Retirement

It is advisable for companies to state the normal retirement age of the company. There is no statutory retirement age in Ireland and employees over the age of 65 are now covered by redundancy legislation, unfair dismissal legislation and equality legislation.

Phased retirement: some points to consider

16/06/2005 - There is no single recognised definition of phased retirement. The term describes a range of employment arrangements, both formal and informal. In its broadest sense, phased retirement means a gradual change in a person’s work arrangements as a transition towards full retirement. In the conventional approach to retirement, a worker moves from full-time permanent employment to complete withdrawal from the labour force in one move – an all or nothing approach.
